External Wall Insulation (EWI)
Millions of properties across the UK have been constructed with either narrow cavity walls or solid walls, making them unsuitable for cavity wall insulation. As energy costs continue to rise, our external wall insulation systems offer an effective solution that enhances your home's appearance while improving energy efficiency, reducing heating expenses, and lowering carbon emissions.
At Dave Sung's Rendering Ltd, we specialize in high-quality external rendering, expertly applied over wall insulation systems to help retain heat during winter and maintain a cooler indoor environment in summer. Serving customers throughout Yorkshire and across the UK, we provide external wall insulation solutions that deliver lasting results.
Our insulation systems can be applied to various surfaces, including brickwork, stone walls, and breeze blocks, ensuring a fully insulated and energy-efficient home. Once the insulation is in place, we offer a range of high-quality render finishes to enhance your home's weather resistance and aesthetic appeal.

& Rendering Process

Scaffolding Installation
To ensure full access to your property, if required, we typically will arrange for scaffolding to be installed before work begins, collaborating only with reliable, professional companies to manage this process efficiently.
Protecting Your Property
We carefully cover all windows and doors using specialist tapes and protective materials. Any downpipes may be temporarily removed and redirected away from the wall during the works. Waste pipes and taps will be extended to accommodate the thickness of the insulation boards before being reconnected to the drainage system, ensuring full functionality throughout the process. For added support, wooden blocks will be securely drilled into the wall at locations where pipe clips, taps, hanging baskets, or other fixtures will be reinstalled. This prevents unnecessary strain on the rendering system after installation.

Base Rail Installation
A stainless-steel base rail is mechanically fixed into the wall every 300mm, running horizontally along the damp course. The depth of the base rail is determined by the thickness of the insulation being installed. This rail seals the bottom of the external wall insulation system and provides a stable edge for accurate alignment.
4
Insulation Board Installation
The first course of insulation boards is placed within the base rail and installed horizontally. Additional boards are staggered as they are applied upwards, ensuring a structurally sound bond. Openings such as doors, windows, and air vents are carefully cut out to maintain full functionality. Corners and openings are reinforced with L-shaped insulation board sections, extending a minimum of 200mm around corners to increase durability and reduce the risk of stress cracks. Each full insulation board is secured with a minimum of five mechanical fixings for maximum stability.
5
Render Application
Once the insulation boards are securely in place, any of our high-performance render systems can be applied over the top, transforming your home’s exterior with a fresh, modern finish.
